With an undergraduate degree in Music Education and Spanish from the University of Michigan and a Masters of Arts from Michigan State University. Cindy taught high school Spanish for 13 years before entering the doctoral program at Michigan State, where she is completing her Ed.S. degree. An avid fan of technology, Cindy seamlessly incorporated technology into her teaching and continues to frequently present workshops and seminars designed to teach technology skills and technology integration as well as standards-based curriculum development and assessment. Currently, she is the Technology Media Coordinator for the Career Services and Technical Education division at Ingham Intermediate School District in Mason, MI.
Cindy has designed and facilitated numerous institutes for the National K-12 Foreign Language Resource Center and is an Advisory Board member and founding editor of the NFLRC's electronic newsletter—The Alumni Connection. Cindy is a frequent presenter at national, regional, and state conferences, as well as custom professional development at the district level. Cindy is a past President of the Michigan World Language Association, and currently serves the organization's Website Manager. Cindy is a volunteer translator for Kiva.org, translating descriptions of micro-businesses from Spanish to English to facilitate loans to budding entrepreneurs in developing countries in Latin America.
In her free time, Cindy enjoys traveling, playing piano, exploring new technologies, and being a parent to two awesome teenagers.
Cherice Montgomery holds a B.A. in Spanish, a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Curriculum, Teaching, and Educational Policy with an emphasis in Learning, Technology, & Culture at Michigan State University. She taught high school Spanish for 12 years at Southeast High School, worked as an adjunct Spanish instructor at Butler County Community College for 4 years, and served as a full time Instructional Facilitator, supporting faculty in a large, urban, public high school with cross-curricular professional development and technology integration.
Cherice's professional activities include frequent presentations, various publications, and contract work for a variety of publishers, universities, and school districts. She is a member of the Advisory Board for the National K-12 Foreign Language Resource Center, edits the NFLRC's electronic newsletter—The Alumni Connection, served on the New Visions in Foreign Language Education Task Force, and was an Associate Editor for the Journal of Critical Inquiry Into Curriculum & Instruction. She has received several awards for excellence in teaching, including the Kansas Foreign Language Teacher of the Year Award, and was honored by SCOLA in a television spot highlighting her contributions to foreign language education.
In her free time, Cherice enjoys art and craft projects, blogging, cooking, games of all kinds--especially board games, reading (particularly science fiction), photography, playing with new technologies, practicing the piano, scintillating conversations with friends and family, scrapbooking, traveling, waterskiing, and writing.

While at Michigan State, she has worked with the Literacy Acquisition Research Center, taught a variety of courses in the teacher preparation program, assisted the Language, Technology, and Culture program on various research projects, served as a writing consultant for the MSU Writing Center, helped coordinate the Bright Ideas Conference, and facilitated the action research of teachers interested in digital writing through the Red Cedar Writing Project and its satellite centers. She is currently instructing world language methods courses and coordinating the Innovation with Technology in Education Consultants for MSU's College of Education.
